Really excited about something heading into Q4 and 2027: AI getting a physical body, in a couple different directions.
First is the always-on assistant — reducing the friction of pulling out a phone, opening an app, typing a prompt. Something closer to just talking, the way you'd talk to a person in the room. Wearables, always-listening devices, whatever shape it ends up taking — the point is removing the steps between having a thought and getting help with it.
Second is manufacturing, and this is the one I'm most excited about. I've seen people design something like a custom dog door — a CAD file built for one specific use case, sent off, and manufactured for real. That's basically a manufacturing incubator: design whatever you actually need, and get it made, instead of settling for whatever modular version is on the shelf. Anthropic's got a new lab that works the same way — you design and experiment remotely, and the lab runs the physical build for you. I want a version of that at home — my own 3D printer, just to play with. Print the part that's missing, fix something broken, make a kid's toy, whatever comes up.
I think this is where building and manufacturing in America actually heads next: on-demand, personal-scale manufacturing becoming normal in people's homes and small shops.
